Unveiled: Canon Announces Several Point-and-Shoot Cameras

PowerShot SX700 Digital Camera

The feature-heavy PowerShot SX700 HS Digital Camera is a versatile point-and-shoot camera with a powerful 30x optical zoom lens and is available in black or red. A 16.1MP High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, combined with the DIGIC 6 Image Processor, provides accurate colors, a rich tonal range, and excellent low-light performance for still photography and full HD 1080/60p video capture. The camera's long zoom lens offers the 35mm focal length equivalent of a 25-750mm lens, which can handle almost any shooting situation that comes your way, including tight interiors and broad landscapes at the wide-angle end and nature photography and close-ups at the telephoto end. A bright 3.0” LCD monitor enables image composition and clear playback of your photos and videos.

Numerous convenience features are supported by the SX700, including a one-touch dedicated button to instantly switch into video mode. Also, when utilizing the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, a simple Mobile Device Connect Button allows you to connect to your Android or iOS device for easy sharing. Built-in Near Field Communication lets you establish a connection to your Android smartphone with just a tap and, in addition to fast transfer and image sharing, the free Canon CameraWindow app enables your device to function as a wireless remote control for the SX700.

PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera

Improving on its predecessor, the PowerShot D20, the Canon PowerShot D30 Waterproof Digital Camera more than doubles its underwater capability with a depth rating of 82’. It is also shockproof from 6.5’ falls and is able to function in temperatures as extreme as 14°F and 104°F—all that in a compact, ergonomic form factor that weighs less than 8 oz. A 12.1MP High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 4 Image Processor provide high-resolution imaging with effective low-light performance and full HD 1080p video capture. Like all of the buttons on the D30, the one-touch dedicated movie button is large enough to be engaged in active situations, underwater, and with gloves on.

A 5x optical zoom lens incorporates inclusive wide-angle perspectives for landscapes and group shots, and telephoto reach for magnifying distant subjects. Its 35mm equivalent focal length is 28-140mm. Befitting a camera that is at home on both the ski slopes and the beach, the D30 features the Sunlight LCD mode to reduce glare on its 3.0” LCD monitor. An Intelligent Image Stabilization system automatically chooses from six distinct modes to control the blur created by a moving camera, and a built-in GPS system enables you to track exactly where your images were taken. With 32 predefined shooting situations, the Smart AUTO mode on the D30 will automatically optimize camera settings based on the scene it recognizes and create balanced, properly exposed shots. PowerShot ELPH 150 IS Digital Camera

One of three new ELPH cameras, the PowerShot ELPH 150 IS Digital Camera is available in black, blue, red, or silver. It features a 20MP sensor and the DIGIC 4+ Image Processor, for high-resolution imaging, and a 10x optical zoom lens for well-rounded shooting capability. The 10x zoom translates into a focal-ength range of 24-240mm in the 35mm format. Intelligent IS (Image Stabilization) automatically chooses from eight stabilization modes to control the blur caused by camera shake. This means that the shots you take in dim light or with the zoom extended will result in clearer images. Smart AUTO mode uses 32 predefined shooting scenes to automatically select the best settings for each shot you take and Scene modes like Fisheye and Toy Camera Effect give you creative options right in the camera—no need for manipulating your photos on the computer.

Video is captured in 720p HD with a dedicated movie button, and a 2.7” LCD monitor provides playback and composition viewing. For those learning the basics of their camera, a Help Button offers simple explanations and easy control of camera settings, and an ECO Mode reduces power consumption for longer battery life.

PowerShot ELPH 140 IS and PowerShot ELPH 135 Digital Cameras

Like the above ELPH, the 140 IS and 135 are ultra-compact cameras that measure less than one inch deep and weigh less than 5 ounces. They are ideal pocket cameras for everyday shooting. Both cameras house a 16MP sensor and the DIGIC 4+ Image Processor for effective imaging and fast performance. They have an 8x optical zoom lens with the 35mm focal-length equivalence of 28-224mm. Both also support 720p HD video capture and offer Smart AUTO for accurate and balanced results, even when shooting in low light or high-contrast situations. They utilize a 2.7” LCD monitor, offer Scene Modes for creative imaging, ECO Mode for power saving, a Help Button to explain camera settings, and are powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. The ELPH 135 is available in black, red, silver, or purple.

The ELPH 140 IS distinguishes itself thanks to its Intelligent IS mode, which reduces the blur caused by camera shake when shooting with slower shutter speeds. It automatically chooses the best mode to optimize image stabilization. The ELPH 140 IS is available in gray or red.
