Lastly, Canon has announced an update to the MRF-14EX Macro Ring Lite and, appropriately enough, it is called the
MR-14EX II Macro Ring Lite.
It brings with it shorter recycling times and more custom functions
than its predecessor, and its twin-tube design enables two flash tubes
to be fired simultaneously or independently. The Macro Lite is designed
to fit Canon EF Macro lenses, literally fitting on the lenses themselves
for shadow-free close-up flash photography. It works with all EOS
cameras and can be adapted to work with PowerShot G series and Pro 1
cameras. White LED focusing lamps and two forms of modeling lights make
for easy and accurate previewing of lighting effects, and the
illuminated dot-matrix LCD allow for simple adjustments. The Macro Ring
Lite MR-14EX II supports E-TTL wireless autoflash when linked with one
or more Speedlite 600EX-RT flashes and has twelve custom functions,
compared to the seven of its predecessor. It has a maximum Guide No. of
34.4’/10.5m at ISO 100.
